Terms of Service

Last updated: 19th June 2026

These Terms apply when you use ScanMyPassword.com and our breach-checking and monitoring service.

By creating an account, using the service, or buying a subscription, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

ScanMyPassword is operated by ScanMyPassword.

2. Who can use ScanMyPassword

You must be at least 18 years old to use ScanMyPassword.

You may use ScanMyPassword to check and monitor your own email addresses. You may also check or monitor email addresses belonging to family members or friends, but only if you have their permission.

You must not use ScanMyPassword to check, monitor, harass, target, or investigate someone without authorisation.

3. What ScanMyPassword does

ScanMyPassword helps you check whether an email address appears in known data breaches, gives guidance on what to do next, and monitors for future breach alerts.

ScanMyPassword does not ask you to enter your passwords for breach checking. You should never submit passwords into the breach-checking service.

Breach data may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable. We do not guarantee that we will detect every breach or security issue affecting you.

4. Your account

You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your account secure.

You must not misuse the service, attempt to access data you are not authorised to access, interfere with the service, scrape the service, or use it for unlawful purposes.

We may suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms, misused the service, or created risk for us, other users, or third parties.

5. Subscriptions and payment

ScanMyPassword is sold as a subscription.

The price, billing period, renewal terms, and any minimum term will be shown at checkout before you subscribe.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not store your full card details.

Your subscription will renew automatically unless you cancel it before the next renewal date.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription through the cancellation method provided in your account, Stripe checkout/customer portal, or by contacting support@scanmypassword.com.

Cancelling your subscription stops future renewals. Unless stated otherwise at checkout or required by law, you will normally keep access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

If you are a UK consumer, you may have a 14-day cooling-off right after subscribing. If you ask us to start providing the service immediately during that period, you may have to pay for the service provided up to the point you cancel, where the law allows.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

7. Account deletion and data

You can delete your account through your account settings.

If you cancel your subscription, we may keep your account data for up to 12 months after cancellation.

If you delete your account through your account settings, we aim to delete your personal data within 24 hours, except where we need to keep limited records for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.

More information is available in our Privacy Notice.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep ScanMyPassword available and working well, but we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or up to date.

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service where needed.

9. Guidance, not professional advice

ScanMyPassword provides security information and general remediation guidance.

You are responsible for deciding what action to take. For serious security issues, you may need to seek specialist advice.

10. Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.

Subject to that, ScanMyPassword is not responsible for indirect losses, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or losses caused by your unauthorised or improper use of the service.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we may notify you by email or through the website.

The latest version will always be available on ScanMyPassword.com.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you live outside England and Wales, you may also have mandatory consumer rights under the laws of your country or region.
